Απόρροια
For the past four years, my photographic focus has been primarily on nature. I was drawn to disrupting its familiar appearance, shifting scale and relationships between recognizable elements, and creating my own visual world from fragments of reality.
Over time, the richness of nature — its almost excessive perfection and colour — led me to search for the opposite: minimal lines, quieter colours, space, and stillness within the frame. It was through this search that I returned to photographing the human figure.
Years of observing nature lie between my earlier experience with portraiture and these images, and that experience has changed the way I see. The human body began to merge with natural elements, gradually losing, along with them, its clear boundaries and familiar appearance. The human figure was no longer simply human, and nature no longer simply nature. From their convergence, images emerged that I could not have imagined in advance.
Απόρροια emerged from the meeting of two parts of my practice — years of photographing nature and my return to the human figure.
